Year 11 Geography Trip

Our Geography Trip to Skegness.

Our Year 11 Geographers have spent 1 of 3 days in Skegness this week collecting data for their GCSE Paper 3 Exam in the summer.

The children spent time in Skegness town centre and showed EGScellent ambition in collecting data using environmental quality surveys and traffic counts; as well as stepping out of their comfort zone in asking members of the public about their opinions of tourism in Skegness.

The children also spent time on Skegness beach collecting data on the effectiveness of coastal management strategies, throwing oranges in the sea to determine the direction and speed of longshore drift; and measuring the height of groynes to work out how effective they are in preventing longshore drift.

The children have embodied the school values in every way. Members of the public and the coach company have been complimentary of their EGSceptional manners, responsibility in tidying up after themselves and their kindness towards each other.

We have been immensely impressed with their engagement, enthusiasm and teamwork in collecting their data, as well as their tenacity in the cold weather. They have been a credit to themselves, their families and our school and we are very proud of them.
