Anti-Bullying
A message from Miss Johnson, Principal:
At Ellis Guilford School, every child has the right to feel safe, respected and valued. Bullying in any form, will never be tolerated in our school community. We are a community built on respect, kindness and courage. We do not stand by, we stand up!
In their inspection in 2023, Ofsted identified that our children know what to do if bullying happens. They report it, and staff deal with it immediately.
At Ellis Guilford School we will not tolerate child on child abuse of any form. We will support our children to a positive outcome for any bullying concerns which are reported or witnessed. Reporting bullying can feel like a difficult decision and takes both courage and bravery – often because children think that reporting bullying will make things worse. This is not true. We can only deal with the bullying with you if it is reported and we know about it. Bullying can only continue if it is not reported. It is essential that children speak out about bullying and report it whenever it is experienced or witnessed.
ANTI-BULLYING AT ELLIS GUILFORD SCHOOL
Have you been bullied? Are you being bullied? Have you witnessed bullying?
Speak out!
Speak to any member of staff who will listen to your concern and help you to report this
Speak directly to your Head of Year or Pastoral Support Officer
Report a concern in one of the “Telling Boxes” located in each year zone.
Report a concern anonymously through The Student Voice platform*.
*The Student Voice gives you the opportunity to provide information anonymously or you can leave your name and email address if you would like the safeguarding team to contact you.
HOW TO REPORT BULLYING
Talk to someone at home or a trusted adult or friend. They can help you to report the bullying to school.
Speak out. Tell your tutor or any member of staff who will support you in reporting the bullying to your Head of Year.
Speak to an anti-bullying ambassador. Talk to one of our trained anti-bullying student ambassadors.
Report anonymously. You can report witnessing bullying anonymously using the “telling boxes” or online using The Student Voice platform.
BULLYING OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL – INCLUDING CYBERBULLYING
Bullying can start outside of school both face-to-face and online (cyberbullying). It is essential that you speak to a parent of carer if you are having issues outside of school so that they can best support you to report the concern to school and prevent any continuation in our school community.
Online abuse – report online abuse to the social media platform using their “report abuse” function. Block anyone who abuses you online to prevent any further contact. Make sure you save or record any abusive message conversations or chats, texts, voice notes or images.

DO NOT RESPOND to any abusive messages or cyberbullying. Blocking and reporting is the most effective way to manage online abuse. Remember you can report any form of bullying to the police.

Some forms of bullying are illegal and should be reported to the police. These include:
- violence or assault
- theft
- repeated harassment or intimidation, for example name calling, threats and abusive phone calls, emails or text messages
- hate crimes

THE STUDENT VOICE
The Student Voice is a child-centred, digital safeguarding platform designed to empower children to report concerns—such as bullying—anonymously and safely. Accessible via any device, it allows children to pinpoint where and when incidents occur, whether on school grounds, in the local community, or online. Through interactive tools like anonymous submissions, children can share their experiences in real time. Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) can then access this data securely, enabling timely, targeted interventions and fostering a culture of early support and contextual safeguarding. Learn more at thestudentvoice.co.uk.
