SEND

Ellis Guilford’s SEND Information Report is a parent-friendly guide which gives parents and carers further information about Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision at Ellis Guilford School. You can find it at the bottom of the page under Policies & Reports.

At Ellis Guilford School (EGS) we believe every teacher is a teacher of SEND. Seating plans are printed and kept within the EGS Teacher Planner.

Seating plans are annotated to indicate the strategies being used to support pupils, and make use of the following:

  • Individual Learning Plan specific strategies e.g. Text in size 14 font
  • Support required with PROUD
  • Specific support required identified from marking
  • Progress data
  • Literacy supporting strategies

We also strive to use a range of techniques to ensure progress for all. The 10 universal strategies are suitable for all pupils, and are used in all lessons despite the specific strategies (above) that may be used for specific pupils.

All lessons will include:

  1. Pause and wait thinking time
  2. All resources on a cream background e.g. Knowledge Organisers, PowerPoint
  3. Clutter free classrooms – The front of all classrooms will be clear
  4. Seating position to maximise learning
  5. Learning buddy system for support
  6. Learning Objective, date and key notes written clearly on whiteboard
  7. Targeted questioning by the teacher
  8. Annotated seating plans that outline personal learning strengths of the pupils
  9. Key PowerPoint slides or information sheets printed for pupils when helpful
  10. PowerPoint slides to avoid ‘text’ overload and text to be a readable size

For additional information please do not hesitate to contact our SEND team.
