Transition from primary to secondary school

When students transfer from their primary school to the Academy, we work hard to ensure that they feel settled as soon as possible. A series of activities are planned to enable your child to understand what their learning life will be like when they join us.

Children requiring a little extra support for their learning will be supported through the Academy's SEND Team. To contact the Academy's SENDCo, please email: SEND@ellisguilfordschool.org.uk. You can also visit our SEND page for more information about SEND support.

If your child attends one of the Basford primary schools they may have visited Ellis Guilford School already on one of the variety of activities that the Transition Team organises to help children to feel at home on the Academy site.

Transition Days & Parents' Information Evening

During the first week in July each year, Nottingham City Transition day ensures that all Year 6 children spend a number of days at their secondary school of choice. On Transition Days children are grouped in their new forms and have an opportunity to make new friends, get to know the lunch system and have a tour of the building as well as taking part in a wide range of team building activities.

During the Transition Days, a Parents' Evening is held to inform parents and carers about the routines of the school, expectations of students, and lots of other useful information.
