Our Values

At Ellis Guilford School, our values shape everything we do. They guide how we teach, how we support our children, and how we work together as a school community.

Our three core values - Ambition, Integrity and Respect - underpin daily life at Ellis Guilford School and help ensure that every child feels safe, supported and inspired to succeed.

Ellis Guilford School Values

Our Core Values

Ambition

Ambition drives us to set high expectations for every child. We encourage our children to believe in themselves, to aim high in their learning and personal development, and to strive for excellence in all that they do.

At Ellis Guilford School, ambition means:

  • setting high expectations for learning and behaviour
  • encouraging children to aim high and challenge themselves
  • supporting children to develop confidence and self‑belief
  • preparing children for future opportunities, education and careers

We want every child to recognise their strengths, work towards their goals and take pride in their achievements.

Integrity

Integrity ensures that we act with honesty, fairness and responsibility. We support our children to make positive choices, take ownership of their actions and do the right thing, even when it is challenging.

At Ellis Guilford School, integrity means:

  • acting honestly and fairly
  • taking responsibility for our actions
  • making positive choices and learning from mistakes
  • doing the right thing, even when no one is watching

We support our children to develop strong moral character and a sense of responsibility to themselves and others.

Respect

Respect shapes our school community. We value positive relationships, celebrate diversity and promote kindness, ensuring that everyone feels safe, valued and included.

At Ellis Guilford School, respect means:

  • valuing diversity and celebrating individuality
  • building positive, trusting relationships
  • showing kindness, consideration and empathy
  • creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all

We expect every member of our community to treat others with dignity and care.

Living Our Values: Pledges in Practice

We know how brilliantly our children demonstrate our values of ambition, integrity and respect every day in school. However, we also recognise that many of these values are lived out beyond the classroom.

Pledges in Practice give parents and carers the opportunity to share and celebrate how their child demonstrates our school values outside of school - whether at home, in the community, through hobbies, sport, volunteering or everyday actions.

By making a pledge, families can reflect on and recognise their child’s positive choices, achievements and personal growth, helping us to celebrate the whole child, not just what we see in school.
