The School Day

Ellis Guilford School provides a compulsory school week of 31 hours 40 minutes as follows:

Monday to Friday – 8.40am to 2.50pm
8.40am is the official start of the school day.
3.00pm is the official end of the school day

A breakdown of the structure of the School Day including lesson and break-times can be found below.

08:40 – 08:45	Line-up Procedure (5 minutes)
08:45 – 09:10	‘Community’ (delivering of key messages) / Tutor Time (25 minutes)
09:10 – 10:10	Lesson 1 (1 hour)
10:10 – 11:10	Lesson 2 (1 hour)
11:10 – 11:30	Break 1 (20 minutes)
11:30 – 12:30	Lesson 3 (1 hour)
12:30 – 14:00	Lesson 4 (1 hour) and Lunch Break (30 minutes) Year group lunches are staggered as follows: – Year 7, 13:00 to 13:30 – Year 8 & 9, 13:30 to 14:00 – Year 10 & 11, 12.30 to 13:00
14:00 – 15:00	Lesson 5 (1 hour)
15:00 – 16:00	Detentions (up to 1 hour)

*Your child is expected to attend the Academy every day, on time, arriving no later than 8.35am. If they arrive after morning registration has closed, they will be marked using the code U (an absence code).
