Parent Briefing 7/10/24

MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Junior Leaders

This week, I have had the absolute pleasure of interviewing our Year 11 children who applied for a Junior Leadership Team position. I was blown away by their EGSellence; their speeches and their preparations for interview. Their commitment to the recognition of, and improvement of, our school is outstanding.

The results for Junior Principal and Junior Vice-Principal will be out later today. The interviews for Junior Assistant Principals and Junior Leadership Team Ambassadors will take place later this week.

For now, here are a few quotes taken from the children’s interviews this week.

Well done to everyone who applied for, and interviewed for, a Junior or House Leadership Team position.

We can’t wait to hear from our younger children this week!

Well done to last week’s winners of Pizza with the Principal. Every week, 10 students enjoy time out of lessons to share pizza together, having been nominated by members of staff during the week for being EGSellent in some way. Each student also receives one of our new ‘Pizza with the Principal’ badges for their blazer. Click on the image below to find out exactly why we think they are EGSellent!

ATTENDANCE MATTERS

Students who attend school every day this week will have the opportunity to grab a packet of crisps from our Crisp Wall on Fabulous Friday. We will also be giving out certificates and movie tickets this week to our new members of the 100 Club, who have attended school every day in September.

For a reminder of our Attendance procedures and how to contact the Attendance Team, please visit: Attendance – Ellis Guilford School.

SAFEGUARDING

World Mental Health Day, Thursday 10 October

On World Mental Health Day, we are encouraging our children to come together to talk about mental health and show everyone that mental health matters. Talking about our mental health can help us cope better with life’s ups and downs.  We also encourage parents and carers to check in with your friends, family, peers, or colleagues around mental health.  Find out more here:  wmhdofficial.com

We are also supporting World Mental Health Day by asking our children to wear something yellow on Thursday as part of a House competition.  All children must wear full uniform but can augment with a yellow item to score points for their House team.

If you have any Safeguarding concerns, please email: john.williams@ellisguilfordschool.org.uk
