Parent Briefing 10/3/25

MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Year 6 – our new Year 7 cohort for 2025/2026

It has been an exciting and nervous wait for our Year 6 parents/carers who were awaiting news last week of their child’s secondary school place.

I wrote to all of those parents/carers last Thursday to officially welcome them to ‘Team EGS’. I know you will also extend our warm welcome as they begin preparations to join us in September.

If you know of any parents/carers of Year 6 children who are due to join us, please do let them know to make contact with the school if they’d like a tour or to meet with myself.

Uniform for 2025

As we travel through this academic year at speed, I am conscious of the upcoming academic year and the uniform amendments for all year groups from September.

As you will be aware, I made the decision to change our uniform based on reducing costs for parents/carers and increasing the amount of uniform that can be purchased from local supermarkets at, often, lower prices.

Please look out for a letter from me regarding the uniform process in preparation for September which will include some support for families.

Ellis Guilford Community Work

Please also look out for a letter this week regarding an exciting new project we are proud to be launching here at school, regarding our community work.

We’re looking for some parents to join a working group to discuss these matters, and I’d appreciate your support and opinions as we move forward.

Year 10 Parents’ Evening

Please be aware that there is a Parents’ Evening coming up on Wednesday 19 March for Year 10.

It is crucial that you attend if you are a Year 10 Parent/Carer – we really want our children to be successful and this is always more achievable when we (school and parents/carers) work together as a team.

SAFEGUARDING

Domestic Abuse

The focus for safeguarding training with staff and children this week is domestic abuse, including relationship abuse. Witnessing domestic abuse is child abuse and can have a long-lasting impact on a child’s wellbeing.  Abusive teenage relationships are not uncommon, and it is important that we are alert to any indicators that our children may be victims.
