Last week, we launched our EGS House System! All children have been put into a House: Chawla, Copeland, Bocelli, Elion or Turing.
The Houses are all named after people who have achieved greatness and who represent diversity and inclusivity.
We had our first Inter-House Competitions last week: a planner signing competition and a quiz.
Three Houses came out as joint winners: Copeland, Bocelli and Turing. Chawla and Elion have some work to do this week!!!
Starting this week, all children will be issued with an iron-on House Badge for their blazer. These will be applied to the top pocket on their blazer. Our in-school Design Team will apply these for our children over the next couple of weeks.
Could I please ask you to check your child’s EGS Planner every week. Please check the homework written in there (although they won’t have any as yet), and use this as a way of communicating with their tutor.
All children are expected to get this signed by parents/carers every weekend, before Monday.
We have issued all children with a lunch card to speed up the queuing process during Family Dining. Please ensure any required funds are topped up via Arbor Pay. Children can also bring cash into school and use the machine in the canteen between 8.15am and 8.35am every day.
There is free breakfast for all children in the canteen every day between 8.15am and 8.35am.
Last week, we spoke to the children about being truly ‘EGSellent’ in everything they do. We are lucky to have such remarkable children in our school, and we want to be able to recognise them whenever possible.
Children have received their EGSellence Loyalty Card and they need to bring this to school every day. This is stored in their EGS Navy Lanyard. Staff have been busy stamping EGSellence cards whenever children are seen displaying our school values, e.g. holding a door open for someone, keeping our school site clean and tidy, being kind to one another. Once complete, pupils can give these to their tutor to exchange for 30 Guilford Gold!
The Arbor Parent App is our main method of home-school communication as well as giving you access to Clubs, your child’s Guilford Gold, payments and personal data.
If you have not yet created your Arbor Parent Account, please do so as soon as possible. If you need any support with this, please ask at Main Reception. You can find out more here.
Our extra-curricular clubs start this week (with some exceptions, noted below*). You can find the full schedule here: Extra-curricular Activities – Ellis Guilford School
If your child would like to attend any of our after-school clubs, you will need to log in to your Arbor Parent Account to provide consent for them to attend. Children should not attend unless parental consent has been provided. To ‘sign up’, look for Clubs in the Activities section of the Arbor Dashboard.
Note:
Below are some of our new Year 7s enjoying their 100% Attendance Reward on a sunny Fabulous Friday! We hope Year 7 all enjoyed their first week with us!
Next week our Fabulous Friday treat for those who attend every day is ‘Creative Cakes’. There is a little treat on offer every Friday for those who attend every school day during that week. If your child attends every day in September, they will become a member of the 100 Club. Click on the image below to see all the Attendance Rewards on offer this term.

Key areas where Early Help can support are:
Ellis Guilford School can help support you and your family by making a referral for you or supporting you to self-refer for Early Help support. If you think you would like support, then please contact your child’s tutor who will make a referral to the Safeguarding Team. Last year we supported families by making over 50 Early Help referrals.
