Curriculum & Assessment
Our year 9 pupils will complete their Pre-Public Examinations this week during their lessons. These exams are an opportunity to assess where each pupil’s strengths lie and identify areas of development.
Please support your child with preparing for the PPEs by providing them a space to revise and prepare.
Our handy PPE booklet can be found below. Pupils will receive a paper copy of this today. There are helpful revision tools and tips in the booklet which will help your child be as prepared as possible to achieve their potential.
Year 11 Parents’ Evening

Your attendance is expected in order to support your child to achieve their very best in the upcoming final examinations.
ATTENDANCE MATTERS
This week all pupils who attend a full week will receive a waffle on Fabulous Friday. Next week, students who have attended every day in December will receive a selection box on the last day of term.
SAFEGUARDING
Keeping Safe: Travelling to and from School
This week, pupils will receive safeguarding training on keeping safe in the community when travelling to, and from, school. This will include:
- Information regarding the law on e-bikes and e-scooters
- Advice on keeping safe from road vehicles and avoiding pedestrian accidents
- Advice on conduct when walking home
- Guidance on what to do if approached by a stranger or if feel threatened by another young person or adult
- Warnings about risky areas such as Basford Crossings, Bagnall Road shops and the Nuthall Road crossroads.
Parents and carers have a role in keeping our children safe too.
- Do not park on the yellow zig-zag “School Keep Clear” lines on Bar Lane—this is against the law, and you are likely to receive a fine from the police who patrol this area regularly.
- Avoid dangerous three-point-turns on Bar Lane—these cause congestion and risk dangerous overtaking, increasing the risk of an accident
- Avoid double parking when dropping off your child—stopping to drop a child off alongside another parked car encourages dangerous overtaking from impatient cars behind you, again increasing the risk of an accident
- Avoid using the school vehicle entrance to reverse into for turning.
