We had a truly EGSellent week last week, with a number of external visitors coming to school.
The feedback on how outstanding our children are, and how well our staff support our children, was FANTASTIC!
This week, our Year 11 children begin their Pre-Public Exams. Please ensure Year 11 children are sleeping enough and eating a healthy diet. There is a free breakfast available for all children from 8.15am to 8.30am in the canteen.
You can find the timetable of exams and tips for success in the Year 11 PPE Exams Booklet here: Year 11 Information
We have a busy week this week:
Monday 11 November: Remembrance Day
All children will be observing a 2-minute silence and have a dedicated lesson to learning all about the sacrifice that our service personnel have made for our country.
Tuesday 12 November: Odd Socks Day
In support of Anti-Bullying Week, we would like as many children and staff as possible to wear odd socks on Tuesday to celebrate what makes us different and to remind people that our differences shouldn’t be a target for discrimination and bullying.
Friday 15 November: Children in Need Day
To raise money for BBC Children in Need, we would appreciate it if children could bring 50p to wear something colourful, spotty or Pudsey-related with their full uniform, and 50p to buy a cake or biscuit from our Bake Sale. Donations of shop-bought cakes and biscuits can also be handed in at line-up on Monday.
This week we will be participating in National Anti-Bullying Week 2024 by delivering anti-bullying training to both staff and pupils.
Wear odd socks on Tuesday 12 November to support Odd Socks Day. This is a day when schools, workplaces, and individuals join together to show that it’s okay to be different and to stand up against bullying and discrimination.
See the NSPCC website for support in talking to your child about bullying: https://www.nspcc.org.uk/what-is-child-abuse/types-of-abuse/bullying-and-cyberbullying/
If you have any Safeguarding concerns, please email: john.williams@ellisguilfordschool.org.uk
On a weekly basis, staff are asked to nominate students who have displayed EGSellence to receive a Principal’s Award badge, to be worn on their blazer, and to have pizza with the Principal.
