Rewards are given to show students that we notice when they are being EGScellent! Rewards come in various forms, such as:

  • ‘Student of the Lesson’ postcards
  • Achievement certificates
  • Principal’s Award
  • Guilford Gold rewards (achievement points system – see below).

How do pupils earn points (Guilford Gold)?

Achievement points (Guilford Gold) are awarded for showing our School Values:

Equality – Integrity – Ambition.

Our achievement points are called Guilford Gold – this is the EGS currency which can be exchanged for Rewards through our school Swap Shop (which opens at lunch-time, and is located in the Guilford building). The rewards in our Swap Shop include: snacks, stationery, sporting goods and bigger rewards such as trips or money-off Year 11 Prom.

Below are examples of how students demonstrate our school values to earn Guilford Gold.

Equality:

  • Reporting bullying or safeguarding incidents
  • Mentoring other students
  • Working successfully in a group
  • Standing up for equal rights
  • Raising money for charity
  • Being a school ambassador

Integrity:

  • Completing all work set in lessons
  • Assisting teachers
  • Putting 100% effort into tasks
  • Supporting fellow students
  • Ignoring distractions
  • Reporting negative behaviour

Ambition:

  • Attempting challenge tasks
  • Offering detailed and enthusiastic answers
  • Asking challenging question or raising learning queries
  • Requesting additional work
  • Competing outstanding homework
  • Attending extra-curricular activities
  • Making excellent progress
